Information about funeral services for Army Spc. Eric R. Sieger, 18, of Layton, is being kept private by the family.
There will be no obituary in the newspaper. While media normally cover the funeral and burial of fallen service members, no media are being allowed to attend services for Sieger.
According to a group known as the Patriot Guard, Sieger's funeral and burial will take place on Monday. The Patriot Guard is made up of veterans and civilians who show up, usually on motorcycle, at military funerals to support the family. Patriot Guard member Craig Larsen posted on the group's Web site, www.patriotguard.org, that details of their role in Sieger's funeral will also be kept private.
Sieger was killed Feb. 1 in Buritz, Iraq, from wounds he received when his Bradley Fighting Vehicle rolled over. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Sieger was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 12th Calvary Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 1st Calvary Division, at Fort Hood, Texas. His body was returned to Utah Thursday.
