Have fun, stay warm at aviary

Tracy Aviary has an indoor venue where guests can warm up, escape the cold and learn about birds, environment and conservation.

• Through Feb. 28, stop by Tracy Aviary and purchase a tweety for your sweetie. Adopt a flock of flamingos or a loving pair of sandhill cranes. The aviary will mail your special friend a photo, certificate of adoption and visitor passes to Tracy Aviary.

• Today through Sunday: Warm up indoors with Amazing Nighttime Predators at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Find out who lurks during the night while you sleep. Free with admission. Visit www.tracyaviary.org or call 596-8500 for more information.

Presidents Day and Polar Monday (both Feb. 19): Free admission. See Anami, a bald eagle in the Mill at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Learn about the life of a bald eagle and what humans can do to preserve their habitat and their species.

• Feb. 23-25: Warm up indoors with Colorful Birds of the Tropics at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Discover the adaptations that make life for the bird in the tropics. Free with admission.

• Feb. 26, Polar Monday: Take advantage of the last free-admission Monday.

• Feb. 28: Join the aviary in welcoming E.O. Wilson in conjunction with the Utah Museum of Natural History lecture series, "The Nature of Things 2007." For information e-mail julieb@tracyaviary.org.

• March 2-4, 9-11: Warm up indoors with mice on the menu at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Cats aren't the only predators with an eye for mice. Free with admission.

• March 3: Photo opportunity. Grab your camera and celebrate the wonders of nature. Tracy Aviary offers photographers of all skill levels the opportunity to take photos of birds at 2 p.m. See them in their natural character and take home great pictures and memories. Pre-registration and additional fee required.

• March 16-18: Warm up indoors with the Clean Up Crew at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Learn about the importance of scavengers in the environment. Free with Admission.
