'High School Musical'  To the big screen

"High School Musical" was a big hit on the small screen — will it be a big hit on the big screen?

Even as the sequel to the made-in-Utah TV phenomenon heads into production, Disney has announced that it will produce "Haunted High School Musical" as a theatrical release for 2008. No details on casting or location were announced.

"Musical" has spawned a best-selling soundtrack; a best-selling DVD release; a best-selling novelization; a sold-out arena concert tour; theme-park productions; and the licensing of the script for local school productions. Disney anticipates more than 2,000 high-school productions in the first year alone.
