PROVO Derek Marquis has been named managing director of BYU Broadcasting at Brigham Young University.
BYU Broadcasting oversees the operations of KBYU Television, BYU Television, BYU Television International, KBYU-FM Classical 89, BYU Radio and several Web sites that deliver content internationally.
Marquis first worked at KBYU Television as a student 23 years ago and returned as a full-time employee in 1991. He has overseen the development activities of the organization, has been involved in the development of many television productions and has been instrumental in launching BYU Television International, which will begin serving Central and South America in March.
Before coming to BYU Broadcasting, Marquis worked as a writer, producer and anchor for the Public Affairs Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as a news anchor and reporter for KSL Radio and as news director for KUER Radio in Salt Lake City.
