15-year-old may have been drugged, raped

CEDAR CITY — Iron County sheriff's deputies are investigating a possible rape involving a 15-year-old girl.

Investigators said the girl may have been the victim of a date-rape drug.

"She was with a few friends, took a drink, felt dizzy and woke up naked," Iron County Sheriff's detective Jody Edwards said.

The girl does not remember where she was when the incident occurred. The assault may have happened on Jan. 27, Edwards said, but it was not reported to police until Jan. 30. Police are trying to track down her friends.

Meanwhile, Cedar City police arrested a 30-year-old man on investigation of rape in a separate case. Police said the victim said a man she knew sexually assaulted her. Officers questioned the man.

"He made some admissions, and so we felt there was enough evidence to arrest him on that," Cedar City Police Sgt. Jerry Womack said.
