Utah Highway Patrol troopers made drug busts near Park City and Monticello in the past week.

More than 600 marijuana plants were found in a U-Haul trailer stopped on I-80 near Park City on Friday. Troopers said they stopped the vehicle for improper lane travel.

"On two separate occasions, the trooper could smell marijuana coming from the vehicle," UHP trooper Preston Raban said Tuesday in a statement.

Inside the U-Haul, troopers said they found more than 600 marijuana plants — and equipment to grow nearly 800 plants. More than $5,900 in cash was seized. The two men in the vehicle were arrested on investigation of drug charges.

Near Monticello, a trooper pulled over a speeding car, which led to the discovery of 3 pounds of crystal methamphetamine hidden in the spare tire of a Nissan Sentra. The UHP said the car was stopped on U.S. 191 early Sunday morning.

The UHP said the trooper obtained consent to search the car and discovered a spare tire that didn't fit the car. Inside, troopers said they found 3 pounds of crystal methamphetamine.

The driver was arrested on investigation of drug possession.
