Cougar DL Tonga receives suspension

PROVO — BYU head football coach Bronco Mendenhall on Monday announced sophomore defensive lineman Matangi Tonga has been indefinitely suspended from the team due to a violation of team rules.

Tonga, a 6-foot-2, 288-pound defensive lineman, saw action in all 13 of the Cougars' games as a true freshman in 2006. He was credited with 13 tackles, including 10 solo takedowns in his first season and totaled two tackles for a combined loss of 14 yards, including one sack for a loss of 13 yards. Tonga also had one interception.
