The Deseret Morning News published a small article (Jan. 2, B2) noting that the University of Utah ROTC program had been honored with the Western Regional Brigade Challenge Award. The region includes dozens of very competitive colleges and universities throughout California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah. The award is based on academic excellence, grade point averages, physical fitness and other things. Such a commendable achievement should not go without recognizing the leadership of this ROTC detachment, including the professor of military science Lt. Col. Edwin Frederick and his staff. Congratulations to them and the cadets of this great program.
