Sara Reinertsen, best known for becoming the first woman amputee to complete the Hawaii Ironman Triathlon, will be guest speaker on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Salt Palace.

The event is sponsored by Park City's National Ability Center.

The Ironman event consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and 26.2-mile run.

Reinertsen recently won the 2006 ESPY award for Best Female Athlete with a Disability and has been featured on the magazine covers of Runner's World and Triathlete.

Reinertsen was born with a deformity on her left leg called proximal femoral focal deficiency, which resulted in an amputation when she was 7 years old.

The event is open to the public. For more information call 435-649-3991.

BOBSLED INVITATION

The National Ability Center bobsled team has been invited to participate in the North American International Race Series.

Matt Profitt, a below-the-knee amputee, and Aaron Lanningham, a paraplegic, will compete in the races.

The series will take place at the Utah Olympic Park on Feb. 10 and 11. The second set of races will be held in Calgary, Canada, on Feb. 16 and 17.

The National Ability Center bobsled program is the only adaptive bobsled program for people with disabilities in the United States.
