With that said, he most definitely understands the plight of the fans. It's tough to become attached to a team that might be gone in a year, a big reason why Kansas City's attendance was usually poor.

Corroon's decision was the hot topic on Internet message boards across the country, with soccer fans expressing anger, frustration and sadness about the team's potential, if not imminent, departure from Utah. One fan called it a "dark day for Utah soccer."

A D.C. United fan from Virginia posted a message saying, "condolences to all RSL fans."

While many fans, like Klein, weren't willing to give up on Real Salt Lake's chances of remaining in Utah beyond the 2007 season, numerous fans appear to have already thrown in the towel. That could spell trouble at the Rice-Eccles Stadium ticket office.
