CEDAR CITY — A woman who attacked a pregnant referee during a youth basketball game has been sentenced to 10 days in jail.

Melissa Cheeney, 33, will serve her jail time on weekends. She pleaded guilty to a class A misdemeanor assault charge and was sentenced on Jan. 16 in 5th District Court for the attack on the referee. The judge also ordered Cheeney to pay a $775 fine, attend an anger management class and serve 24 months' probation.

Cedar City police said Cheeney was angry over fouls the referee called during a March game.
