PARK CITY A skier was killed after he apparently hit a tree on a run at the Park City Mountain Resort.
Brett Pendleton, 49, was reported missing on Wednesday afternoon. The resort's ski patrol found him in some trees near the PayDay run, resort spokeswoman Krista Parry said Thursday. He was wearing a helmet.
Pendleton was a volunteer safety patroller for the resort and a longtime member of the Park City Mountain Resort Masters Race Training program.
"It's just a big family up here," Parry said. "Anytime you lose a member of the team it obviously impacts everybody."
A memorial run will take place on the slopes on Friday at noon. The resort said those who wish to participate should meet near the Finish Arena on PayDay run.
