• For more information on the cold hardiness of fruit trees and how to grow them in Utah, attend the Home Orchard Production class at Thanksgiving Point. Register at www.thanksgivingpoint.com or call 768-7443. A class called Growing Plants in the Greenhouse, in which you'll learn how to propagate plants from seeds or cuttings, is also taught at Thanksgiving Point.

• You can view or download a copy of the plant hardiness zone map for North America at www.usna.usda.gov/Hardzone/ushzmap.html. To find more precise climatic data for local sites, check the Utah Climate Web site at climate.usurf.usu.edu.

The vermiculture class at Red Butte Garden will be Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. Construct a worm tower to take home and learn how to feed your worms. The cost is $3 for members and $5 for nonmembers, plus admission into the garden. This is a drop-in class, so no registration is required.
