TODD LYNSKY

Lehi Pioneers

Sport: Basketball

Class: Senior

Position: Forward

The numbers: With an outstanding month as the Pioneers' main scorer, Lynsky has coaches around the valley finally recognizing his talent. He scored 17 against Tooele, 20 against Pleasant Grove and 20 against Springville. In last week's overtime win over Timpview, he nailed a 3-pointer with 13 seconds left to tie the game and then hit 7-of-8 free throws in overtime on his way to a game-high 28 points. He's averaging about 18 points per game, good enough for the second-highest average in Region 7.

BRIANNE LARSEN

Orem Tigers

Sport: Basketball

Class: Junior

Position: Guard

The numbers: The Tigers are determined to put up a tough defense to their state title, and the five starters are all scoring between eight and 10 points a game. But Larsen had a breakthrough game against second-place Provo last week with 19 points, including two 3-pointers. "She hit a couple of shots, then busted a 3, and got her confidence going," said Orem coach Ross Reed of the lone junior in his starting lineup.
