THERE'S A BOSCO BACK IN PROVO Amber Bosco, Provo: No, she's not Robbie, but she did get her dad's hard-nosed talent, and she's leading her Bulldogs to a top ranking this year in 4A.
BIG GAME WITH A LITTLE NAME Ryan Littlefield, Lone Peak: At 6-foot-2, this center also has a nose for the ball and impressive moves in the paint.
IT'S YOUR TURN NOW Allie Lunt, Payson: When Hiatt went down, Lunt took over as the team's leader and its leading scorer. She's played in the shadow of Sandy Marvin, Aubrey Orton and Hiatt, but now, everything's up to the 3-point threat with spunk.
SCARIEST DEFENDER IN THE PAINT Jamie Sagers, Orem: This girl is 6-foot-5 and knows how to reject a shot. You don't want to mess with Sagers around the hoop. It makes life dangerous.
GREEN LIGHT BRIGADE American Fork Cavemen: This versatile bunch, led by Haley Holmstead's 15.3 points per game, is given the green light when it enters the gym, and plenty of those shots find the bucket.
BEST IMPERSONATION OF A LIKELY REPEAT Orem Tigers: Wow! The defending state champions looked unbeatable against region rival Provo in their first matchup with a 71-46 win.
TAKING UP THE SLACK Aimee Dorais and Kristy Giles, Pleasant Grove: When Kailee May moved to Virginia, taking her 15 points per game with her, Dorais and Giles turned their 15 ppg average into 24, almost overnight.
BIG IMPACT FOR A SMALL SCHOOL Elise Robertson, Meridian: This senior sinks almost 15 points per game for the private 1A school in Provo.
PRESEASON WITH SOME KICK Timpanogos Timberwolves: Though they only came out of their in-state preseason schedule at 5-5, their opponents boasted an overall 52-30 record with only one school coming in at under .500. Now that's preparation for the postseason.
BEST-KEPT SECRET Ashley Kuchar, Provo: This freshman has all the skills a coach could ask for, but Provo's doing its best to keep her talent a secret as long as possible. Oops!
RECORDS ALL AROUND Sally Hansen, American Leadership Academy: This sophomore's setting school girls basketball records every time she steps onto the court with her 13.3 points per game scoring average and impressive 3-point range. Of course, ALA is enjoying its first season ever.
MIGHTY MITE WITH A BIG GAME Delyse Downey, Orem: One the other end of the Orem height spectrum at 5-3, Downey runs this determined bunch with a huge heart, plenty of talent and a ton of well-earned confidence.
