Preps of the week

MIKE HALL, Orem: This senior has been one of the keys to Orem's resurgence.

On the heels of his miraculous, game-winning 80-foot shot against Timpview two weeks ago, Hall racked up 12 points to lead the Tigers to a 58-47 victory over Provo last week as Orem improved to 2-0 in Region 7. Hall is averaging 10.5 points per game this year, third on the team.

Hall's full-court heave against Timpview with 0.8 seconds remaining has been viewed over 30,000 times at youtube.com.

Orem High School is no stranger to last-second heroics. In a quarterfinal game at the 2005 boys basketball state tournament, Orem's Tanner Lamb drained a three-quarter court shot to beat American Fork 56-53 in double overtime.

JENNA JOHNSON, Spanish Fork: This senior leads her team both offensively and defensively and recently became 5A's leading scorer with a 21 points per game average.

"I think she'd give up a few of those points for a win here and there," said her coach Ryan McGuire. "She's a great team player."

Johnson, who maintains a 3.8 GPA, was a great shooter her sophomore year, but spent the summer learning all other aspects of the game.

"She's very dedicated to what she does," he said. "She's a great all-around player now, not just a shooter."
