Stem-cell research could benefit millions of Americans currently suffering from Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and diabetes. A 2006 poll indicates that 72 percent of Americans support embryonic stem cell research, and the scientific community agrees that federal funding is critical to this research.
The only major interest group in America opposing this research is the religious right and their puppet in the White House, President Bush.
The House should support an override of his impending veto, putting the lives and health of Americans above the agenda of the religious right.
