PROVO Bail will remain high and cash-only for a man in the Utah County Jail, accused of robbing several Utah County pharmacies of prescription drugs.
Danny Hooley, 32, American Fork, faces two charges of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, and one count of third-degree felony theft. He's charged in two separate cases in Provo's 4th District Court.
Police say that on multiple days in late December, Hooley demanded OxyContin from clerks at pharmacies in Lehi, American Fork and Orem.
"He indicated he had a gun, ... he threatened to shoot. He was way out of control," said deputy Utah County attorney Randy Kennard.
Hooley's attorney, Debbie Hill, asked that the $10,000 cash-only bail be made bondable so he could bail out of jail. She told Judge Steven Hansen that Hooley's family would help ensure he would come to all future court proceedings.
Kennard opposed the motion, and Hansen dropped the bail amount only to $9,995, which, because it is under $10,000, will give Hooley the chance to participate in programs at the Utah County Jail.
Hooley will be in court again Tuesday at 8:30 a.m.
