RIVERTON Students were scheduled to be dismissed at Riverton High School at 11:30 a.m. today because a boiler malfunction left them to study in 40- to 50-degree cold this morning, Jordan School District reported.
Part of the boiler either froze, broke or otherwise malfunctioned, district spokesman Michael Kelley said. While the problem was fixed this morning, it would take about four hours to sufficiently heat the school, he said.
Wasatch Front temperatures were expected to be about 21 degrees today.
School was in session the minimum four hours to count for a full school day, so students won't have to put in a make-up day, Kelley said.
