SARATOGA SPRINGS One man was taken to the hospital after he and a co-worker fell 30 feet when their construction scaffolding gave way.
The men, both in their mid-20s, were pouring concrete for a support tower in a new water tank in Saratoga Springs at 10:15 Monday morning, said Utah County Sheriff's Sgt. Eric McDowell.
The scaffolding collapsed for some reason, dropping the men to the ground.
One man was able to walk away, McDowell said, but the other man complained of injuries to his leg, lower back and rib cage area, which made breathing difficult.
The man was transported in stable condition to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center via medical helicopter.
The plummeting scaffolding also pulled down the tower, spilling a fair amount of the curing concrete, McDowell said. The tank is being constructed west of Village Parkway, on an unnamed dirt road.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was called to investigate, McDowell said.
