SWEETWATER COUNTY, Wyo. Nearly 100 miners were kept underground for several hours Wednesday after a power failure at the mine where they were working.
FMC's soda ash mine, located about 25 miles outside of Green River in Sweetwater County, lost power at about 2 p.m., disabling elevators and air circulation devices. Officials were able to raise 25 miners out of the mine at a time, using a generator-powered lift. It was expected to take until about midnight to clear the mine.
The miners were not in danger at any point, according to police dispatchers.
