PROVO (AP) — Utah Senate Majority Leader Curt Bramble, R-Provo, was admitted to a hospital after doctors found blood clots in his legs and chest.

Bramble was in pain Sunday while riding an exercise bike.

"The doctor told me I was lucky I didn't kill myself," Bramble said Tuesday.

"While it is potentially serious, I think we got on top of it quick enough," he said from a bed at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center.

Bramble predicted he would attend the opening of the legislative session Monday. A meeting of Senate Republicans to discuss priorities was canceled Tuesday.

"We told him that we don't want to see him on Capitol Hill, and we don't want to see him in his office until Monday," Senate President John Valentine, R-Orem, said.

"This is one of those things that takes awhile to get solved. He'll be released, but he'll still have to be watchful," Valentine said.
