OGDEN Three police officers involved in a deadly shooting with an armed man have returned to duty.
An internal investigation found that the three officers acted within the scope of policies and procedures of the Ogden Police Department, Assistant Police Chief Wayne Tarwater told the Deseret Morning News.
"They're cleared to return to work effective today's date," he said Wednesday.
The Weber County Attorney's Office is still conducting its own investigation into the shooting of Jessie Turnbow, 29. Police said on Dec. 18, Turnbow left his girlfriend's home near 34th Street and Adams Avenue after an argument and walked up to the intersection of 35th Street and Jefferson Avenue.
The officers, responding to a 911 call about an armed man, confronted Turnbow there.
Witnesses told the Deseret Morning News they heard Turnbow shout "shoot me" at the officers and then open fire with the shotgun he was holding. Police said they exchanged multiple shots before Turnbow was killed.
