Utah moose heading east

Published: Saturday, Jan. 6 2007 12:37 a.m. MST

Utah and Colorado wildlife officials tag and collar a female moose near Huntsville Friday. The moose and about 20 others will be relocated to Grand Mesa National Forest east of Grand Junction, Colo., in exchange for about 20 bighorn sheep. In northern Utah, competition for space has forced younger moose into back yards and on roads in residential areas as they try to establish their own territory. The moose roundup near the frozen Causey Reservoir will continue today, weather permitting.
