A Clearfield man has been convicted in connection with an Internet sex sting.
A jury in Salt Lake City's 3rd District Court on Tuesday came back with a pair of guilty verdicts against James Moises Gallegos, 29, who was charged with two counts of enticement of a minor over the Internet, second-degree felonies.
Gallegos was arrested in a sting operation set up by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The Utah Attorney General's Office said that on two separate occasions, Gallegos was communicating online with someone he thought was an underage girl really an undercover ICAC agent and proposed engaging in sexual activity. Prosecutors said Gallegos drove to Midvale in March 2006 to meet the girl and fled from officers. He was arrested the next day. Sentencing is Feb. 26.
