Man charged in molestation case

Davis County prosecutors have filed child sex-abuse charges against a Syracuse man, accusing him of molesting a girl for more than a year.

Police said they are fearful there may be other victims.

The girl — who police will only say is under the age of 14 — recently disclosed to officers that a man had been doing some "inappropriate things" to her, Syracuse Police Lt. Tracy Jensen said Friday.

"After investigators interviewed her, they went over to his house, where he was arrested and booked into the Davis County Jail," he said.

On Friday afternoon, Davis County prosecutors charged Jason Dann Hone, 31, with three counts of aggravated sex abuse of a child and one count of rape of a child, all first-degree felonies. Prosecutors said it was possible more charges could be filed if more victims are found.

Police said the alleged abuse took place between March 2005 and August 2006. Officers became involved when someone reported it to the Division of Child and Family Services, who then contacted the Syracuse Police Department.

"He was a trusted neighbor and a place where she could go and hang out," Davis County Attorney Troy Rawlings told the Deseret Morning News.

Meanwhile, police put out a plea for anyone whose children may have had contact with the man to contact them at 801-825-4400.

"We're thinking there might be (other victims)," Jensen said. "Hopefully, they will come forward."
