HUNTSVILLE (AP) — A plan to capture moose in northern Utah and transplant them to Colorado was postponed Thursday because of blinding snow.

Several inches fell in Weber County, and visibility was extremely limited.

The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources wants to capture as many as 25 female moose and move them to Grand Mesa National Forest near Grand Junction, Colo.

The strategy is to immobilize them from the air with a net, then transport them by helicopter to an overlook at Causey Reservoir. The moose will be loaded into trailers for the trip to their new home.

"They'll try again (Friday) if the weather allows them," division spokesman Mark Hadley said.

Too many moose are entering residential areas in northern Utah, officials said. In exchange, Colorado will send Rocky Mountain sheep to Utah.
