FARMINGTON The Davis County Board of Commissioners marked its first meeting of 2007 with two new members and a vow to be more accessible to the public.
Newcomers Louenda Downs and Bret Millburn joined Alan Hansen at the table Tuesday as the commission conducted its first business of the new year.
"I'm very excited to be part of a wonderful team," said Downs.
She replaces longtime Commissioner Carol Page, who opted not to seek re-election. Page had served on the commission since she was appointed in October 1993.
Millburn, who ended Dannie McConkie's 12-year term with a victory at the Republican convention this past year, reiterated his campaign promise to listen to residents.
That vow is shared by all three commissioners, who announced plans to introduce a public-comment portion in weekly commission meetings.
The commissioners also plan "to take our show on the road," Hansen said, and attend city council meetings throughout the county to get better acquainted with elected city officials.
That tour will begin next week with a visit to the Clearfield City Council, he said.
