OGDEN A snowboarder and a skier were rescued after spending a cold night near the Powder Mountain ski resort.
Weber County Sheriff's deputies said a 21-year-old snowboarder got lost near the Hidden Lake Lodge on Thursday afternoon. Search and rescue teams found him at about 10:30 p.m.
"He crashed and twisted his ankle," Lt. Doug Coleman said Friday. "We found him in poor condition with signs of hypothermia, a knee and wrist injury."
James Davol was treated and released for his injuries.
Searchers were called out again to look for a skier who became separated from friends while skiing at the Powder Mountain resort.
"He got lost in the fog," Coleman said.
Rescuers found 21-year-old Alex Stcherbinine on the Cache County side of the resort at about 4:15 a.m. Friday.
Conditions in the mountains were treacherous, so Coleman said they decided to send out their "extreme team" of searchers.
"It was windy and foggy," he said. "The command decided to call out our extreme team, the best of the best of the best people with real mountain skills."
