The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released a statement Wednesday praising former President Gerald R. Ford:

"Gerald R. Ford lived a life of service to others, doing so with kindness, firmness of conviction, and an unwavering sense of right. He will always be remembered as a man of faith and decency. The First Presidency expresses sympathy and condolences to President Ford's wife, Betty, and to his children and extended family," said the statement from LDS Church President Gordon B. Hinckley and his counselors, President Thomas S. Monson and President James E. Faust.
