Offense
The Utes had two turnovers, a fumble and an interception, but they moved the ball effectively, finishing with 405 yards. Brett Ratliff passed for 240, and Brent Casteel had 86 total yards on offense and a touchdown.

Defense
The Eric Weddle-led defense held the Hurricane to 254 yards, forced two turnovers and had two sacks. Weddle recovered one fumble and had an interception on the last play of the game. Steve Tate finished with 10 tackles.
GRADE A
Special teams
Louie Sakoda was the Utes' only source of scoring in the first half, and finished with four field goals and a PAT. Sakoda and the punt team averaged 47.3 yards per punt, including one that was downed at the 5-yard line.
GRADE B+
Overall
The Utes settled for three field goals and were unable to find the end zone in the first half, but the defense kept it close. The defense forced the Hurricane to punt five times and allowed only two third-down conversions in 11 attempts. A balanced offensive attack kept Tulsa guessing.
