Asked whether he thinks that will be the case, Galley responded: "I hope it's true."

GIRLS: Like the boys squad, Riverton's girls team returns a first-team All-State post player.

Unlike the boys squad, however, the Silverwolves also bring back a star guard to complement the forward.

This year, Riverton will look to build its squad around two three-year starters: forward Amanda Hansen and guard Shannon Hildreth.

"They both are good all-around ball-players," said coach Ron Ence. "They're good leaders on and off the floor."

Entering this week, Hansen has been among the early 5A scoring leaders, averaging 15.17 PPG. She helped lead Riverton to a historic season a year ago, and she'll be expected to carry much of the load, along with Hildreth, this season.

Hansen said she's received a handful of collegiate offers but hasn't decided yet where she wants to go. That decision likely won't come until after the season.

According to the senior, much of her success has been the result of her teammates. "I really don't think they get enough credit for what they do," Hansen said.

Ence certainly hopes the supporting cast will step up as the season progresses.

"I'm really pleased with everybody's effort," he said. "I'm excited to see these new kids challenge in practice for playing time."

Coming off a season that saw them record a school-best 20-3 record, expectations around Region 3 have been awfully high for the Silverwolves. Time will tell whether they're up to the challenge.

"I'm glad they respect us," said Ence, "but we've got a long ways to go yet."
