Davis board to OK 2007 budget today

The Davis County Board of Commissioners will approve the 2007 budget during its regular meeting today.

On Wednesday, commissioners tabled the proposed budget approval following a public hearing that found most residents and business owners opposed to a proposed tax increase and the spending plan.

The 2007 proposed budget includes a 37 percent property-tax increase to pay for operations of the newly expanded Davis County Jail, repairs for 19 flood-control channels and more services for the county's Division of Senior Services.

Commissioners delayed the approval to "digest" public comments.

The commission meeting begins at 10 a.m. in Room 126 of the Davis County Memorial Courthouse, 28 E. State in Farmington.
