PROVO For the first time in five years, fees will increase for some camping grounds in the Uinta National Forest.
At the beginning of the new year, single family camping fees will increase from $11 to $12 or $14 in the Heber and Spanish Fork Ranger Districts, according to a statement released Monday by the U.S. Forest Service. In the Pleasant Grove Ranger District, the price to camp will increase from $11 to $13.
Group rates will also increase, but the Forest Service has not yet announced the new rate.
The Forest Service uses 15 percent of campground fees to improve camping facilities.
While the prices for some camping areas will increase, fees for extra vehicles, parking and picnicking will decrease.
A complete list of campground fees is available on the Uinta National Forest Web site at www.fs.fed.us/r4/uinta/recreation/.
