Salt Lake City police officers were searching Sunday night for two men and a woman who robbed a local market at gunpoint earlier in the day.
Salt Lake City Police Lt. Gary Layton said the robbery occurred at 9:15 a.m. at the Super Mercado, 1179 S. Navajo St. (1380 West).
"The first suspect grabbed the clerk around the neck and held a gun to her head as (suspects) two and three went to the jewelry counter," Layton said. "It was later determined that a 9 mm handgun was used to shoot the glass top to gain entry into the case."
It was not clear how much jewelry was taken or what its monetary value might be, but Layton said jewelry is all the robbers took.
"They were last seen running northbound out of the store," and no getaway get-away vehicle was observed, Layton said.
All three are believed to be Hispanic, between the ages of 18 and 22, and between 5-foot-4 and 5-foot-6 inches tall. Both male suspects carried guns. All three wore dark pants and hooded sweatshirts, Layton said.
Anyone with information should call the police department at 801-799-3000.
