Abbie Cook, left, and Lisa Dickson (No. 12) of Clearfield try to take the ball from Skyline's Dani Peterson..

Teresa Uipi isn't sure how the Skyline Eagles developed their chemistry, but she's convinced it helps them win.
"It definitely helps," said the senior forward after the top-ranked Eagles defeated Clearfield 57-37. "I think it was created last year and it just carried over this season."
If the Eagles can continue to improve while maintaining their chemistry, they'll be tough to beat.
"I think if we just keep playing as a team, we'll be fine," said Uipi, who finished with 15 points and seven rebounds. "We don't really feel pressure, and our chemistry is good enough to roll."
Uipi's athleticism helps the Eagles in a lot of ways, but especially on the boards and defense. She's a returning varsity player, but has devoted most of her off-seasons to club volleyball. That, however, will change this winter, she said.
"Right now I like basketball a ton more," Uipi said. "I didn't touch a ball during the summer. I think I needed (some time off)."
Skyline was led by center Dani Peterson, who scored 22 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. Point guard Jenteal Jackson added nine points, five assists and five rebounds.
Both teams struggled offensively at times, but were very aggressive defensively. Clearfield's Whitney Trimble had six steals in the second half alone. She also led the team offensively with 11 points.
"I thought our kids battled hard in a very physical game," said Eagles coach Deb Bennett. "I love playing Clearfield. They are always good athletes who defend hard and rebound hard."
Bennett finds herself in an unusual position this season as the defending 5A champion.
"I've never been on this end of it," she said. "I think there are a lot of good teams in 5A."
While the mind-set of defending a title may be a little different, the Eagles are just trying to focus on playing their brand of basketball - although they customize a few features for different opponents. A tough pre-season schedule has only helped the squad, Bennett said.
"I think we've had some tough games," she said. "We've had some real challenges. It's a difficult position coming in with that target on your back."
