Mitt Romney is a more "ideologically reliable Republican" than John McCain? Please. They'll both say whatever is politically expedient. When Romney was running for the Senate in Massachusetts, he promised to do more for gay rights than Ted Kennedy, supported Bill Clinton's "don't ask, don't tell" policy for gays in the military, had supporters distribute fliers at a Gay Pride parade, said that the Boy Scouts should be open to all sexual orientations and claimed that gay marriage was a state issue.
Now he wants to run for president, he's positioning himself as a social conservative. Mitt Romney is more pliable than reliable.
