LOS ANGELES — Deron Williams matched his career high with 28 points and had 14 assists, Carlos Boozer had 28 points and 15 rebounds, and the Utah Jazz broke open a close game late in the third quarter to beat the short-handed Los Angeles Clippers 105-86 on Wednesday night.

Williams, who was 10-of-18 from the field, scored all but six of his points in second half. Boozer shot 13-of-21.

The game was the first for the Jazz since a 101-79 victory over Dallas enabled Jerry Sloan to become the fifth coach in NBA history with 1,000 career victories. Utah has won four of its last five games and owns the league's best record (17-5).

The Clippers announced before the game that coach Mike Dunleavy had agreed to terms of a four-year, $22 million contract extension. Dunleavy is in the final year of a four-year, $10 million deal.

Los Angeles played without two of its top three scorers — Sam Cassell (injured left foot) and Corey Maggette (bruised left knee and left Achilles' tendinitis).

Mehmet Okur added 18 points and Andrei Kirilenko scored 12 for the Jazz, who shot 51.3 percent.

Elton Brand led the Clippers with 20 points. Chris Kaman added 19 points and 10 rebounds and Tim Thomas had 16 points and seven rebounds for Los Angeles, which shot 40.3 percent.

The Clippers have lost three of their last four games, with the losses coming by a combined 70 points.
