The U.S. Department of Labor has awarded 72 community college partnerships $125 million for successfully competing under the federal Community-Based Job Training Grants initiative.
Among those receiving grants are the College of Eastern Utah's San Juan Campus in Blanding, which will get more than $1.26 million to concentrate on careers in health care, and Salt Lake Community College, which will receive nearly $2 million for manufacturing and biotechnology career opportunities.
A total of 429 entries were submitted in response to a competition announced July 3. The 72 grants awarded Wednesday will support projects in 34 states.
