MORGAN — Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy accused of bringing a loaded handgun to school.

The Morgan County Sheriff's Office said it was tipped off Friday by a concerned parent that a teen had been showing a gun around Morgan High School.

"We went over there and pulled him out of class," Morgan County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Kevin Edwards said Tuesday. "We got the gun."

Deputies recovered a .25-caliber automatic handgun. Police said they talked to the 16-year-old boy, who indicated he wasn't planning to do anything with it at school.

"The kid's got some problems. We don't know if he was going to harm himself. He said he wasn't mad at anybody at school," Edwards said.

The teen was arrested on investigation of bringing a loaded gun to a school and carrying a concealed weapon. He was booked into the Weber County Juvenile Detention facility in Roy.
