Master gardener classes set

The USU Extension Service's 2007 master gardener program starts Jan. 24 at the Davis County Memorial Courthouse in Farmington.

Classes go for 11 weeks on Wednesdays and Fridays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The program requires 40 hours of volunteer service at the Utah Botanical Center and Utah House in Kaysville, demonstration gardens, grow units at elementary schools, Davis County fairs, festivals and plant diagnostic clinics.

Topics covered in the classes include trees and shrubs, flowers, insects and diseases, landscape design, turf grass, water conservation, fruits and vegetables, pesticides, soils, nutrients and other topics relating to horticulture and gardening.
