Electronic voting machines in Salt Lake County were confirmed to have worked accurately, after an audit of the recount results was released Thursday.

A State Elections Office mandate required the county to audit 5 percent of the touch-screen voting machines used in each of the jurisdictions where there were recounts. Deputy Clerk Jason Yocom said 21 machines were randomly selected, and the paper trail from each of those machines was reviewed by hand and compared with the electronic results from the machine's memory cards. The audit revealed no discrepancies.

The recount, completed Wednesday, secured wins for two incumbents for Utah House races as well as a challenger for a seat on the Jordan Board of Education.

Rep. Greg Curtis, R-Sandy, ended up winning by 19 votes in District 49; Rep. Mark Walker, R-Sandy, won by 18 in District 45; and Tracy Scott Cowdell ousted incumbent Lynette Phillips for the No. 6 seat on the Jordan Board of Education.
