The board of directors of the Salt Lake-based Workers Compensation Fund has declared a $20 million dividend that will be distributed in December.
It follows a $21.5 million dividend distributed in August.
The dividend will be distributed to a majority of WCF policyholders, each receiving roughly 8 percent of their earned premium attributable to the 12 months ended Sept. 30.
WCF said the second dividend for the year was a result of lower-than-anticipated claims expenses, primarily attributable to fewer catastrophic claims.
With the new dividend, WCF will have returned more than $251 million in dividends to policyholders since 1991.
