THE DOORS; "Perception (40th Anniversary Box)" (Rhino/Elektra) ***
After lead singer Jim Morrison died in 1971, surviving Doors members released two studio albums without him: "Other Voices" and "Full Circle," which have long been out of print, and which continue to be ignored in this latest box set. Still, this six-CD, six-DVD set, with new remasters of the Morrison-fronted albums, does feature harmonies and instrumental versions that were mixed out of the originals, along with such rarities as the complete Morrison theatrical poem "The Celebration of the Lizard," concert footage, music videos and slide shows. BUDDY GUY; "Can't Quit the Blues" (Silvertone/Legacy) ****
BRUCE HORNSBY; "Intersections 1985-2005," (RCA/Legacy) ****
Bruce Hornsby has always said he is a jazz pianist with punk attitude. He just plays music and doesn't care what others think, and has for more than 20 years. The set documents Hornsby's rise up the charts, his break from hitsville and his joining up with everyone from the Grateful Dead to Branford Marsalis to B.B. King. Four CDs of Top 40 hits, two filled with fan requests and a 23-track DVD make this the most comprehensive Hornsby collection ever. S.I.
WAYLON JENNINGS; "Nashville Rebel" (RCA/Legacy) ****
