VOLLEYBALL: BYU middle blocker Lindsy Hartsock was honored this week for her success both on the court and in the classroom. She was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America third team, becoming BYU's first volleyball academic all-America honoree since Amy Steele Gant in 1997.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Weber State's Sara Tuomi was named the Big Sky Conference women's basketball player of the week. Tuomi led the Wildcats to a 2-1 record last week with wins over Idaho and Utah and a 72-70 overtime loss to Western Carolina. In three games, Tuomi averaged 23 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Utah State faces a familiar foe today in former Big West opponent Pacific. The game is at 7 p.m. at Pacific's Alex G. Spanos Center in Stockton, Calif. Utah State (2-2) is coming off a 67-61 win over St. Mary's on Monday night.

SWIMMING: On the heels of his sixth season at the helm of the University of Utah's swimming and diving teams, head coach Michael Litzinger is the winner of this year's Don Reddish coaching award.

SOFTBALL: Utah Valley State coach Todd Fairbourne has signed Abigail Bowcutt and Kristin Lane to letters of intent. Both players are high school seniors this year and will join the Wolverines for the 2008 season. Bowcutt is from Mountain Crest High.
MEN'S BASKETBALL: Joe Walker has been named independent newcomer of the week for his performance last week at Western Illinois. Walker came off the bench to score 14 points and grab eight rebounds in the 77-75 road victory.
