Oregon, a team that whipped Arizona State and UCLA and was ranked in the top 20 earlier this year, will face BYU in the Las Vegas Bowl, according to an announcement from the bowl committee this afternoon.

The Ducks feature an offense ranked eighth nationally and will reintroduce BYU fans to former head coach Gary Crowton, now the offensive coordinator for Oregon. Crowton was the Cougar coach from 2001-04 and hired current BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall as his defensive coordinator. They remain close friends.

The Cougars just finished a 10-2 season and went through the Mountain West campaign undefeated, their first championship since 2001, Crowton's first year.

The Ducks defeated Oklahoma back in September in a controversial game. They are 7-5 on the season, having lost their last three — Oregon State, Arizona and USC.
