Okur wound up scoring just two more points and Boozer none in the second half as the panicked Jazz continued to fire up one bad shot after another.

Even the occasional good ones rarely went down.

"You have to give them credit for winning the game and having a game plan like that," forward Matt Harpring said, "but I think we beat ourselves."

"We just unloaded the jump shot," Williams added. "Sometimes zone makes you do that."

Yet there was little effort whatsoever to penetrate the zone and work the ball into Boozer, who came into the night with a 23.3 points-per-game average.

"It's pretty hard to find him," Sloan said, "if ... you're not looking to pass."

Sloan criticized his club afterward for wanting too much to simply "hang out and take shots," and for exhibiting an everyone-get-theirs shooting mentality.

"To start out the ballgame," he said, "everybody seems like they've got to prove they can make a shot."

He also tore into them for walking the ball up the floor too frequently — "When we do that," Sloan said, "we're very, very ineffective" — and for playing much too casually.

"Our team isn't good enough to be that way," the Jazz coach said. "We won't be able to win any games if we try to play on a consistent basis that way."
