PROVO — A 19-year-old Brigham Young University student fell about 60 feet while rock climbing in Rock Canyon late Wednesday afternoon.

Provo police said the woman was doing technical climbing with some of her friends when a problem occurred with her rope and she fell. Her fall was broken by her fiance, who had been belaying the ropes for her.

The woman was transported to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, where she complained of back pain. She also hurt her head in the fall.

Police did not know her condition Wednesday night but said she had feeling in her limbs and was reported to be doing well considering the height of the fall.
