Let's talk turkey

Jim Karpowitz, below with Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, releases a wild turkey Thursday in Magna as children from Daybreak Elementary School watch. The DWR — in partnership with Kennecott Utah Copper Corp., Kennecott Land Corp. and the National Wild Turkey Federation — released 46 wild turkeys on land owned by Kennecott Copper Lands at Little Valley as part of a Thanksgiving release program to demonstrate the comeback of the wild turkey. Once scarce in Utah, the wild birds now flourish. At left, students get close-up look.
