EAST CARBON A Sunnyside woman was killed when the car she was in slammed into a semitrailer Tuesday morning.
The Utah Highway Patrol said Rachael Spencer, 26, was in a vehicle traveling west on U-123 near East Carbon when it crossed into oncoming traffic. The semitruck tried to avoid the crash, but the vehicle hit the semi and then rolled.
Troopers said both people in the front seat of the vehicle were ejected. The driver was taken to a Provo hospital in critical condition. A 2-year-old child in a car seat sustained minor injuries.
The UHP said alcohol is being looked at as a possible factor in the crash.
